Too Mainstream?

This first image was taken by a passenger on an airplane.  They must of saw that there was another airplane not so far away which anyone would really find pretty cool, well i know i would, wondering where is it that that plane is headed for. This was either taken at dawn or dusk, with the colors the sky has with the fades orange in the background makes me think so. This image is filled with colors of the sky and how it can be such a peaceful view, how from one minute it can be blue and the next there are mixtures of orange, pink yellow and white as can be seen in this picture. You can also tell that this passenger was sitting right next to the turban engine, which is an object that stands out as well.

This second image is of the airport in Amsterdam, The Netherlands named Schiphol. You have a view of the runway and how the clouds are hovering over the airport as well. Its not much of bright colors, but the mood of this photograph can be felt as calmness. The artist took a shot of this part of the airport probably make the viewer feel like they are the ones waiting to depart. To make them think of what they do meanwhile waiting to board. How there is

These were taken in different years five years apart, which is kind of the closest thing i could find coming from two different countries. But i would like to think these two artist did come across each others works since they have to either do with airplane or an airport. These are two photographs that can relate to perceiving reality. i feel that the this European art work deserves to be in the mainstream art story. Many people can relate to being in an airport and the experiences they have while being there. As well as the view each person has wherever they are. The same goes with the American art work. Many take planes to visit different parts of the world for many different reasons. to see new life, have new experiences. See the beauty of mother nature. What the earth has to show them. I myself love airplanes and airports which is a reason why i chose these two art works. i can relate to them as well . i have actually been to the Schiphol airport and love how big it is! It brought me back so much memories from the minute i stepped into the airplane to the time i stepped onto the airport. So if by just seeing these photographs i felt many ways i know others may feel the same as well.

Moor

Janine Antoni's roping making is different parts of materials that either belonged to her family or friends. Her materials went from pillow cases to extension cords being torn apart to be put in the rope. She says the rope is like an umbilical cord. A umbilical cord connects things together. So the rope she makes some how it is connected to her life, has some sort of meaning to this world. And she lets people know by some how sticking an object out of the rope. She wants the viewer to uncover the story behind the objects they see. Someone with no experience in this artwork may still probably get the image she is trying to show. Every piece is different colors, shades, and material. Some parts of the rope is only pink with feathers, while others have hammocks put together. they might miss the meaning of how her life is connecting all these people she knows just through this rope.

Empire of Light II

1. This painting I got the impression that it represents the quietness of nature, how there is not a single human or animal being shown.
2.The title of this painting is Empire of Light II, to me this empire light is the sky because it stands out more than the actual lamp that doesn't even lighten up the neighborhood as much
3&4.This artist chose to do the painting with oil paint which i see it is what makes it seem smooth , like I just look at the painting and think of smoothness
5.the lamp in this neighborhood is small compared to long the block is and barely lightens it up
6.you can tell the time this painting is taking place it was when the streets were made of stones and those lamps were used often. now a days you rarely see those lamps in the streets.
10&12&13. The darkening of the neighborhood sense to me that people who like quietness live there, or that even if people are having bad days since the tress are all black and some parts of the neighborhood are darkened as well , the lighting of the sky shows us that there are always brighter days since its what mostly stands out with the light blue color and white clouds.

Jackson pollack

Jackson Pollock and his paintings went a different direction than the common ideas and methods of other artist. His paintings are "mopping up operation of the school paris. He puts together a re mince of cubism and surrealism. He tends to put different kind of energy towards his paintings. They called his work the " Abstracts Expressionists". He placed a tremendous value on the process of creating art, something he found to be equal and important. He hoped that his work transcended the issue of being an American. Since he himself feels that he is American, since he himself feels that he is American, being that he was raised here. There was a time he focused on abstract paintings, but after awhile he went back to painting women. But not the ideal women i should say. He painted his own arms and shoulders the way he wanted them to look, even if they weren't symmetrically the same. He found the mouth more interesting than any other body part. in his own words he found them "weird". He found them more interesting in women because it was more appealing than men. I found his paintings interesting. Especially the women. Just the way everything was painted. And like i said before, its not the ideal women you see everyday, but his own imaging of what he sees as art in women.

Bear Witness

Well when it comes to people and other things i am a very neutral person and I  have an unbiased perspective on life. Over all I am a down to earth kind of girl. During my spare time I enjoy various genres of literature and doing some sketches or making a painting. As well as hanging out with friends and family.

If I had to bear witness something it would be a problem that has been going on for decades in this world, which is the lack of water and how so many people are in poverty til this day. This issue was very apparent to me when I went to visit my country this summer, The Dominican Republic. There were various families who were struggling with their economic situation. Most struggled with having decent roof top over their heads for the night. Children who aren't even nine years old are in the streets either selling fruits or asking to shine other peoples shoes just to at least have change in their pockets.
